A Bike Ride to Remember Come Wintertime

A big part of my life is biking. Bicycling, I believe, is the closest a human being can come to flying.

So I ride whenever I can, starting as soon as the heavy snow and ice are gone from my part of Michigan and ending come late November most years. When it’s too bad to be on a bike in the winter, I do spinning classes.

And I share my bike rides with videos, mapping and the various apps and tech toys I get to use in my other life as a technology journalist.

Anyway, today was one of those perfect summer rides that keep you motivated all during the not so nice months.

I Rode with Pat Benson and Tina Laurie today, celebrating the fourth with a 31 miler that took us through two parks, a bunch of mountain bike and nature trails and some fine gravel backroads. There were lots of hills on a perfect July day, with sunny skies and temps in the upper 70′s.

Here’s the video, as shot from my GoPro Hero helmet-mounted camera, followed by a map of the route as recorded by my Garmin. I cal the route the Texas-shaped Trails and Gravel route because of the way the route looks when plotted out on a map.

Here’s the video:

My Life Online

Follow me… as I share my life online.

I have a lot of blogs. Over 100 in fact. Most are niche specific, dealing with things like technology, bicycling, blogging as a business and Christianity.

I also use a lot of Social Media. I have multiple Facebook pages andTwitter accounts and I use Four Square, LinkedIn and a slew of other apps and services. You can find links scattered around here.

But this blog will be just personal.

My life… shared online.

Let’s see where it goes…
